harbor pearl

April 17, 2013

There has been so much

wandering, drifting

sucked by tides/scraped raw.

I squint upwards

through the murk, hoping

for a scrap of light

to break through the violence of waves.

They grip my body

as it

spasms, thrashing.

As dawn blooms, there are only

ripples.  Rest has come

a harbor

 in which to birth

the pearl growing

within, its contours echoing

the whispered

hues

of early morning’s mist.

  1. Stunning. Such a great picture of how our sorrows rub off our broken bits until what remains is polished and beautiful…

I’ve learned that a pearl takes a long time to create. I’m just so glad that it does, eventually. Thank you for your kindness.
